Thank you for your support during the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games!
Thank you to the 200+ businesses that applied for Smart Commute’s Games Service – a special service for non-member organizations to help prepare travel plans for this summer’s TORONTO 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
The Games took place across the region from July 10 – 26 & August 7 – 15, 2015. During this period we successfully hosted the largest international multi-sport event ever held in Canada!
The Games brought thousands of athletes and visitors to our region, along with changes to the transportation network, making travel in the GTHA busier than usual. Leading up to the Games, The Ministry of Transportation, TORONTO 2015, police departments, municipalities and Smart Commute worked with businesses to provide information and assist in travel planning. The tremendous success of the Games is due in part to efforts made by organizations in the GTHA in supporting alternative travel.
Although the Games are over, there are many reasons to continue with the actions initiated as part of Games-time travel planning. Smart Commute resources are available, including information about alternative travel options and how to keep moving during busy times and unexpected events. Please look at our website for tips, stories and resources. Check out the following to get started:
