Who We Are

Smart Commute Durham is a non-profit Transportation Management Association (TMA) led by the Regional Municipality of Durham that works with local employers to provide employee transportation strategies, and improve air quality and traffic in Durham Region.

Our mission is to improve commuter efficiency and air quality through supporting the use of sustainable modes of transportation. Smart Commute Durham operates by incentivizing sustainable transportation behaviour and policy development.

Goals & Objectives

  • To develop and implement Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs for businesses, institutions, and property managers.
  • To implement transportation programs that reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by increasing the use of sustainable transportation options.
  • To provide employers with the means to offer sustainable transportation options to their employees.

Established in 2007, Smart Commute Durham is one of 11 Smart Commute associations across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) working to provide programs and services that help commuters make single occupant vehicle trip reductions for work and home life. Over the last 9 years, we have grown to include more than 30 member companies across the region that all see the economic, environmental and social benefits of providing commuting options to their employees!
