On November 19th, employers and Smart Commute offices from across the GTHA came together to celebrate the incredible work being done by Smart Commute employers to encourage and support sustainable commuting among their staff.
Hosted at the St. Lawrence Hall, the inspiring evening was a chance to learn about innovative policies and programs that employers are putting in place to help make teleworking, cycling, walking, and public transit very viable options for their commuters.
The winner of the Employer of the Year award for the Toronto region was
Manulife. Manulife continues to roll out their impressive WorkSmart flexible working program, offers discounted transit passes to staff, has EV charging stations on site, and encouraged ‘reducing, re-timing and re-moding’ of staff commutes during the Pan Am Games this summer.
Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto also received special recognition at the Awards for their very high number of employees who commute to work by cycling or walking.
Congratulations to Manulife, Mount Sinai, all
winners, and all employers who are committed to supporting sustainable commuting!
