Workplace Program

The Smart Commute Workplace Program recognizes employers for their efforts in reducing negative impact on the environment, and single-occupancy vehicle trips by promoting the use of sustainable transportation modes among their employees.

The Smart Commute Workplace Program consists of four designation levels awarded on an annual basis. The four levels are Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Levels are determined by totalling points earned based on certain measures taken by workplaces such as participating in sustainability campaigns, undertaking surveys, providing carpool parking and much more.

Designation Levels:

Smart Commute Bronze Workplace – awarded to workplaces that have implemented the program on a basic level with one additional commuter option for employees, besides single-occupancy vehicle trips. Smart Commute Bronze Workplaces strive to make a positive impact on their employees’ commutes and explore the possibility of investing resources into sustainability programs to help reduce traffic congestion and/or negative environmental impact.

Smart Commute Silver Workplace – awarded to workplaces that take the program beyond the basic level of implementation and add additional commuter options for employees. Smart Commute Silver Workplaces strive to make a significant positive impact on their employees’ commutes and are willing to invest effort and resources into relevant programs to help reduce traffic congestion, and/or negative environmental impact.

Smart Commute Gold Workplace – awarded to workplaces that demonstrate an outstanding level of program innovation and success in altering commuter behaviour. Smart Commute Gold Workplaces successfully achieve positive impact on employees’ commutes and have invested effort and resources into relevant programs to help reduce traffic congestion, and/or negative environmental impact.

Smart Commute Platinum Workplace – awarded to ground-breaking workplaces that demonstrate the highest level of program success; spearheading innovation and overhauling commuter behaviour. Smart Commute Platinum Workplaces successfully achieve the greatest impact on employees’ commutes and invest heavily in the implementation of transformative programs designed to reduce traffic congestion and/or negative environmental impact.
