Bike to Work Day and Bike Month 2017

May 29th 2017 is Bike to Work Day!

As part of this year’s Bike To Work Day, we want to celebrate all of the incredible cycling initiatives organizations and individuals are undertaking here in Hamilton.

Join us on Monday, May 29th for the main event: Bike to Work Day at Hamilton City Hall (7:00-9:00 am) with the main reception at 8:00 am. You can register on the Bike to Work Day tab as of May 1st to be entered to win a prize.

As you cycle to work on May 29th, stop in at the City Hall forecourt where you can re-fuel with a free healthy snack, hot & cold beverages and enter for your chance to win some amazing local prizes! There will also be vendors onsite, and as always, we will be awarding the Community in Motion Awards and hearing from strong voices in the community. Last year we broke attendance records and expect even more people to join us in 2017, as we help Hamilton #PedalItForward towards a more bicycle-friendly future!

The #PedalItForward campaign, not only highlights the many wonderful movements and activities already happening in Hamilton, but also enables cyclists to #PedalItForward by giving the gift of bicycling to a friend, family member or co-worker on Bike To Work Day!

Thank you for making Bike Month 2016 a HUGE success!

Hundreds of cyclists took part in over 40 events across Hamilton. Workplaces, schools, and community organizations all showed their support for cycling by organizing independent events on a wide-range of topics.

Through the active involvement of our workplace members, Smart Commute Hamilton placed second in the GTHA for total bike trips logged. Collectively, these trips accounted for over 10,450 km of travel and prevented the release of over 2.4 tons of CO2.

Thank you to everyone that took the Bike Month Pledge and logged a bike trip on the Smart Commute Tool.

Keep on riding!
