Workplace Program

The Smart Commute Workplace Program recognizes employers for their efforts to reduce traffic congestion and take action on climate change by supporting and promoting the use of sustainable transportation modes among their employees.

The Smart Commute Workplace Program consists of three designation levels that are rewarded on an annual basis. Gold and Silver levels are awarded to employers that a) expand the program over time by implementing new initiatives that help more commuters choose alternatives to driving alone, and b) continue to engage commuters at the workplace on an ongoing basis.

Designation Levels:

Smart Commute Workplace – awarded to all workplaces that are part of the Smart Commute program. This designation recognizes a workplaces commitment to helping employees find alternatives to driving alone to work.

Smart Commute Silver Workplace – awarded to workplaces that take the program beyond the basic level of implementation and add additional commuter options for employees. Smart Commute Silver Workplaces strive to make a significant positive impact on their employees’ commutes, congestion, and/or environment and are willing to invest effort and resources to implement relevant programs.

Smart Commute Gold Workplace – awarded to outstanding workplaces that demonstrate a high level of program innovation and success in altering commuter behaviour. Smart Commute Gold Workplaces successfully implement and achieve positive impact on employees’ commutes, congestion and/or environment and have invested effort and resources to implement alternative programs.
