Share the Road

In most cases, the rules of the road apply to cyclists and drivers equally.

Before you head out on the road, you should be familiar with your rights and responsibilities as a cyclist.

A bicycle is a vehicle according to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and is therefore subject to the same fines. Municipalities also write their own by-laws so be sure to check with your local Police Station for a complete list.

Drivers should also be conscious of how to safely share the road with cyclists. Click here for an overview of relevant laws and best practices.
